The EMHD Initiative is supported by the Federal Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), which is one of three Centers within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
The EMHD Project Team within CMHS is headed by Dr. Gary Blau, Chief of the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch (CAFB), who was appointed by Kathryn Power, the Director of CMHS, to take the lead in this work for the agency. The Project Team also includes: Ms. Susan Stromberg, Public Health Advisor and Alternate Project Officer; Ms. Lola Oguntomilade, Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs at CMHS; Ms. Karen B. Francis, Consultant for Cultural and Linguistic Competence, and Ms. Bethanie Parrish, Public Health Advisor. The EMHD Project Team provides oversight and direction to ensure that the goals of the Initiative are being met and coordinates all internal workgroup activities related to eliminating disparities.
AFYA, Inc. was awarded a contract by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to carry out the various tasks under this Initiative.To successfully meet the goals and activities associated with the project, AFYA works with other Federal partners, national, state, and local organizations, agencies and community groups to plan, develop, and implement tasks to support the EMHD.
